Sprung bogie components for the Bachmann Classes 47 and 57. Includes cosmetic representations of the secondary spring hangers and seats. The bogie subframes provide mounting surfaces for the Bachmann cosmetic plastic frames, retaining the Bachmann brake detail. Fold-up gear cages allow the Bachmann six-wheel drive train to be articulated. Undertrays and end plates are provided for the bogie subframes.

Content as PK001, with parts to replace the plastic brake shoes, hangers and lower pull rods. An alternative set of end stretchers carries the end brake detail and will support either the Bachmann or Heljan outer sideframes.

Note that the Bachmann 47/57 models produced from 2022 on are not compatible with these kits.

Complete kit for DP1 sprung bogies, fitting inconspicuously within the RTR sideframes.

Sprung bogie components for the Bachmann Classes 24 and 25. Includes improved front stretcher detail and optional bolster end detail. Undertrays and end plates are provided for the bogie subframes.

Note that this kit is not suitable for the Class 24 and 25 models being introduced by Bachmann from the beginning of 2020.

Sprung bogie components for the Bachmann Class 37, four- or six-axle drive. Includes cosmetic representations of the visible secondary spring detail. The bogie subframes provide mounting surfaces for the sideframes of the Bachmann plastic bogie mouldings. Etched parts are provided for brake gear and guard iron details. Fold-up gear cages allow the Bachmann six-wheel drive units to be articulated.

Note that the Bachmann models produced from 2021 on are not compatible with these kits.

Sprung bogie kit for the Heljan Hymek. Our simplest bogie kit, the RTR side frames are a push fit on to our subframe. Etched representations of guard irons and brake shoes are provided.

Sprung bogie kits for the Heljan Classes 26 and 27 (BRCW Type 2) and Class 33 (BRCW Type 3). Can be built as a relatively simple and straightforward conversion with the original cosmetic sideframe detail, but includes etched components and wire for a thorough detailing job on brake gear, suspension and bogie frame. The kits are suitable for both the original and the more recently upgraded Heljan models.

Sprung bogie kit for the Heljan Class 47 or Heljan Kestrel (with Class 47 bogies). Includes cosmetic representations of the secondary spring hangers and seats. The bogie subframes provide mounting surfaces for the Heljan cosmetic plastic sideframes. Fold up units provide pivot points for the bogie in the Heljan chassis block, replacing the original plastic ‘yokes’. Includes brake detailing parts to replace the plastic brake shoes, hangers and lower pull rods.

Sprung bogie kit for the Heljan Lion prototype, fitting inconspicuously inside the RTR sideframes.

Sprung bogie kit for the Heljan Falcon prototype. Includes representations of the bogie end transoms and brake detailing parts, improving the appearance of the bogies and allowing errors in the original moulding to be corrected.

Sprung bogie kit for the Bachmann LMS 10000 or 10001 locos. Fits discreetly within the original moulded detail. Can be built as a 'split-frame' chassis for electrical pickup on all wheels without wiper pickups.

Sprung bogie kit for the latest Bachmann Class 40 (centre motor, six-wheel bogie drives)*. Secondary springing and fully sprung-equalized primary suspension across all wheels for reliable track-holding. Cosmetic bogie frame swivels as per prototype allowing full details to be added right up to the lower bodyside.

* For the immediately preceding models, with centre motor and four-wheel drives, use kit PK017.

Sprung bogie kit for the more recent Bachmann Peak locos (centre motor, four-wheel bogie drives, buffer beams mounted on bogie frames). Secondary springing and fully sprung-equalized primary suspension across all wheels for reliable track-holding. Cosmetic bogie frame swivels as per prototype allowing full details to be added right up to the lower bodyside. Corrected bogie pivot location.

Sprung bogie kit for the Bachmann Class 66. Secondary springing and sprung-equalized primary suspension. Fits discreetly with the Bachmann bogie frame detail moulding, with mounting brackets for the moulded brake details.

Two kits for the Western: PK019 is a straightforward build to give a working sprung suspension with some optional detail enhancements, while PK020 includes all that but adds a full set of cosmetic details, including brakes, providing a bit more of a challenge!

Etched brass components to represent the brake shoes and the lower, visible parts of the brake mechanism. Parts can be fixed to the proprietary plastic mouldings. A set of etched end stretchers (included) can be used to support the detail at the ends of the bogies.

Note that this pack does not, at present, include the end stretchers, guard irons and outer brake shoe guides which come with the sprung bogie kits.

The bearing assemblies are a crucial part of the sprung bogies, come right at the start of the build when learning curves are at their steepest, and can be a trifle fiddly. The instructions guide you carefully through the steps and, once you've done a few, they're a breeze but, to cover for any untoward occurrences, we have these packs of spare etches, enough to do one whole 8-wheel or 12-wheel loco.
