Kit Features

Etched brass fold-up construction.
Steel ‘guitar wire’ springing.
Primary and Secondary springing.
Primary springing by two independent spring beams on each side of each bogie to mimic the sprung equalization beams of the prototype.
Simple fit to locomotive main body / chassis block.
Can be built either as 'split frame' for electrical pickup both sides via stub axles, or as an uninsulated unit to pick up from full axles, either with wheels insulated on one side of each bogie or using separate wiper pickups with all wheels insulated.
Uses original drive units, either with etched parts supplied for a straightforward modification to articulate the six-wheel drive, or simply cut down to a four-wheel drive.
Simple electrical connection using original components or wire links if preferred.
Fits discreetly within the cosmetic sideframes, end stretchers and brake detail of the original bogie moulding.
Optional parts to allow cosmetic secondary spring hanger detail to be moved inboard.

The sprung bogie subframe forms an integral unit with the outer parts of the original plastic moulding. The brake gear mouldings have been popped out of their mountings, which have been opened out slightly to position the gear at a slightly wider spacing when it is replaced.

LMS 10000 bogie with springing kit fitted. The plastic pivot yoke at the top of the bogie is re-used: the modified bogie simply fits into place in the loco and is retained by its single screw as in the original. No modifications at all are required to the loco itself.

The bolster unit. The rigid vertical strips of Bachmann's electrical pickup arrangement have been re-used successfully, though wires could easily be substituted if preferred.
